Raymond Scott Reimagined (2023) - Strings and Big Band

In Raymond Scott Reimagined, Quartet San Francisco teams up with Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band and vocal legends Take 6 to bring new life to the zany brilliance of Raymond Scott. Known for his cartoon-associated compositions, Scott’s music is reinterpreted with flair across 14 tracks. A highlight is “Cutey and the Dragon,” completed by Goodwin from a 1982 Scott sketch. The album blends whimsical string textures, jazz grooves, and rich vocal harmonies into an energetic, joyful ride.

QSF Plays Brubeck (2009) - Jazz

This all-Brubeck string quartet album honors the 50th anniversary of Time Out with fresh takes on jazz classics. QSF navigates complex rhythms and shifting moods with ease, from the driving “Golden Horn” to the lyrical “Bluette.” Their country-tinged “Take Five” and masterful “Blue Rondo a la Turk” show just how inventive a string quartet can be. The album earned two Grammy nominations, including Best Classical Crossover Album.

Látigo (2006) - Tango

Látigo showcases QSF’s deep roots in tango, influenced by Jeremy Cohen’s work with Forever Tango and the group’s award-winning performances in Buenos Aires and New York. The album’s title refers to a whip-like slide in tango playing, and the music snaps with intensity and precision. From dramatic glissandos to sensual melodies, QSF captures the passion and nuance of Argentine tango with flair and authenticity.R
