Raised in the San Francisco Bay area, Derek Jones launched his musical career as a 16-year-old guitarist but soon went on to become a masterful bass player.
Derek worked with such Bay Area legends as David Garibaldi, Pete Escovedo, Sheila E., Paul McCandless, Joel Harrison, Paul Hanson, Mike Marshall, and Darol Anger. He then became the bass player for Nickel Creek sharing the stage with legendary, Chris Thile (mandolin) for several years and moved to Nashville.
It’s no surprise when he auditioned for Cirque du Soleil’s KA, show he got the job. Derek has been in Las Vegas playing in the show 5 days a week entering his second decade of performances.
When Derek wanted to pursue his own album, he contacted producer, Cookie Marenco. The two had a mutual respect and friendship that started early on in both their careers and continues to today. They worked on two albums under Derek’s name for Blue Coast Records. Derek handpicked the music and musicians for the album that displays his diversity of musical knowledge.

Keith Greeninger’s songs reflect life of a simpler time, a search for deeper meaning and compassion for all living things. His powerful presence has earned him the top songwriting awards at the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festival, The Kerrville Folk Festival and The Napa Valley Folk Festival. He has toured the national Folk and Americana circuit extensively for over two decades.
Keith is joined by Chris Kee, and Brain for the stellar live studio session that became Close To The Soul. Right away, you can hear the chemistry between the three musicians. The way they lock in together so naturally makes it feel as if they have been playing with each other all their lives.
City Folk combines the talent of Keith Greeninger, Kimball Hurd and Roger Feuer. The trio began touring together more than 20 years ago with their harmonies, guitars, mandolins and banjos, quickly rose to the top of the Bay Area folk scene, and was soon enjoying immense popularity on the National Folk and Americana circuits.
Borderline was recorded for Blue Coast Records is a reunion of friends meeting and performing together after a long sabbatical. The bond this trio has for each other is evident in the performance as each takes a lead role in this live-in-the-studio album.
